What is PrepShortlist?

PrepShortlist compares emergency kits, water filters, portable power stations, first aid kits, emergency food and survival gear. The goal is a quick decision you can defend: what a product does when the power or the water is out, what it needs to keep working, and which stores can deliver it to you.

The UK National Risk Register 2026 lists cyber attacks on electricity infrastructure and telecommunications as risks and says AI can make them faster. The register adds that Britain has never experienced a nationwide loss of power and that the likelihood of one is low.

How we work

• Specs come from the maker: product pages, manuals and spec sheets. We link the source.
• We do not run lab tests, and we never say we did. Where a number is a claim by the maker, such as filter life, shelf life or runtime, we label it as a claim.
• The order on each shortlist comes from a published formula: emergency features, picks by independent testers, and how often people search for a model.
• Prices come only from the maker's own US store, with the date we checked them. Amazon prices change too often to show, so Amazon links carry no price.

Not every store ships everywhere. A maker's own store often ships within one country only. We show the stores that deliver to the country you shop from, and you can change that country at the top of every page.
